Hey, I’m Charlene!
I’m the voice and hands behind La Makarona, a place where I share everything I’ve learned about making fresh pasta fun, approachable, and delicious.
Pasta has become my passion after years of experimenting in the kitchen, going from baking to exploring the endless world of pasta shapes and recipes.
Why La Makarona?
I started La Makarona because I wanted to make pasta accessible to everyone. If you’ve ever felt lost in the sea of pasta types or unsure how to create fresh pasta dishes at home, I’m here to make it simple for you. My mission is to provide clear, tested pasta recipes that you’ll want to cook over and over.
A Little About Me
I graduated with a degree in Nutritional Sciences from Vienna University and worked as a dietetic consultant before dedicating myself to recipe development.
While nutrition is part of my background, here I focus purely on the joy of pasta cooking. When I’m not in the kitchen rolling dough or snapping photos, you’ll find me watching films or hanging out with my cat, Greta, who definitely runs the household.

Every recipe on La Makarona has been cooked and tested by me. I take the time to photograph each step so you can follow along with confidence. If you ever run into a hiccup, I encourage you to leave a comment, I read all of them and love helping out.
